FK Mladá Boleslav

The nickname of the club is Bolka, the club colours are blue and white. Of course, they are also found in the emblem and on the jerseys, which are mostly blue on the upper part except for the sleeves and white on the sleeves and shorts. The football socks are also blue. The club plays its home games at the Mladá Boleslav Municipal Stadium, which is called the Adidas Arena for sponsorship reasons. The capacity of this stadium is 5,000 seats.

A number of well-known names have appeared in the squad of this club. We can mention Peter Vrabec, who was a well-known penalty kick enforcer. He grew up in Boleslav, although he then spent his playing career in Sparta. Radek Bejbl or Jan Rajnoch and many others played there.

The beginnings of football in Mladá Boleslav

The club was founded in 1950 in Mladá Boleslav in the Central Bohemia region. However, the origins of Mladá Boleslav football date back to 1902, when many local clubs were founded, dissolved and merged. Indeed, the current club was also formed after a large merger of four smaller town clubs, which were SK Aston Villa, Mladoboleslavský SK, SK Slavoj and SK Meteor Čejetičky. During the First Republic there were mainly two big camps of former supporters of "Aston Villa" and "Mlada" (Mladoboleslavsky SK). These clubs used to play local derbies together.

However, if we go a little further and look at the current club, the situation was quite unclear under the communists, because both the competitions were organised chaotically and the names of the clubs, including the Mladá Boleslav club, were changed. The club has had its current name, FK Mladá Boleslav, since 1990.

Modern history

In 1992, the club became a farm of Slavia and thus bore the name FK Slavia Mlada Boleslav, and two years later it was also a farm of Bohemians as FK Bohemians Mlada Boleslav. The post-revolutionary period was difficult for the club and it went through financial problems. It managed to get into the 1st league in 2005 and is still there. Every year it plays quite high in the table and the best position is 2nd place from 2006. In 2011 and 2016 the club won the Czech Cup.
