It is quite logical that the rivalry here is mainly with its more successful little brother Manchester United. Their mutual matches are referred to as the Manchester derby. Another club rivalry here is also with Everton.
It probably goes without saying that the club is based in Manchester, specifically in the county of Greater Manchester. It was founded in 1880 with the name St. Mark's (West Gorton) FC. Later it was still called Ardwick AFC. The current name has been in use since 1894. From 1923 to 2003, the club's home stadium was Maine Road.
Manchester City may be in the shadow of the successful Manchester United, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have success to its credit. It has, and there are plenty of them. In particular, there are 6 wins in the top flight, with 4 of those coming in modern history during the existence of the current Premier League format. These achievements are very recent, they are from 2012, 2014, 2018 and 2019.
If we look back a bit in history, the club's successful period was in the 60s and 70s. Namely, it won all three long-term domestic competitions and the Super Cup. In addition, it also won the FA Cup 6 times and the EFL Cup by the same number. His most recent cup win is from the 2019 FA Cup.
But it wasn't just domestic league and cups. Manchester City have also experienced success at European level. It dates back to a successful period in the 20th century when they won the Cup Winners' Cup in the 1969/70 season. That season was a double for the club as it was also the first time they won the EFL Cup, known as the League Cup in English, which we mentioned above.
