Borussia Dortmund managed to defeat South African side Mamelodi Sundowns 4:3 in a close match during their second game at the Club World Cup. After an initial 0:0 draw against Fluminense, Dortmund secured their first victory in the tournament, taking a step toward advancing from the group stage. The German team built a 4:1 lead but saw it reduced to a single goal in the closing stages. In another match, Inter Milan overcame Urawa 2:1, despite trailing 0:1 until the 77th minute, with Valentin Carboni scoring the decisive goal in stoppage time.

Dortmund displayed a somewhat shaky performance in their second group-stage match. The South African champions took the lead in the 11th minute when Brazilian striker Lucas Ribeiro slipped through Dortmund’s defense. However, shortly afterward, Mamelodi goalkeeper Ronwen Williams made an error during a play-out, which Felix Nmecha capitalized on to equalize with a goal into an open net.

The fourth-placed team in the German Bundesliga managed to turn the scoreline around before halftime with two more precise strikes. In the 34th minute, Serhou Guirassy headed Dortmund into the lead, exploiting another defensive mistake by the opposition, and just before the break, Jobe Bellingham scored from a volley to make it 3:1. The 19-year-old younger brother of Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham thus celebrated his first goal in a Borussia jersey.

When Mamelodi scored an own goal in the 59th minute, it seemed the match was decided. However, Iqraam Rayners pulled one back with a header from a free kick shortly after, and in the 90th minute, substitute Lebo Mothiba narrowed the gap to a single goal. Mamelodi applied pressure in stoppage time but could not find an equalizer.
