Barcelona Considering Lucrative Friendly Match in Peru to Boost Finances

29.10.2025

FC Barcelona is negotiating the possibility of playing a profitable friendly match in Peru in December, which could provide the club with a significant financial boost. According to reports, the Catalan team has been offered between seven and eight million euros, an amount considered difficult to refuse by the management.

The club’s interest in this opportunity has grown after the planned league match against Villarreal in Miami was postponed. The cancellation deprived Barcelona of expected revenue, prompting the search for an alternative that could compensate for the financial loss.

Club president Joan Laporta has already informed players and staff about the plan to play a match in South America shortly before Christmas. The exact date has not yet been set, but it is expected to take place after the final competitive game of 2025.

This would not be Barcelona’s first trip outside Europe in December. In 2023, the team played a friendly against Mexican side Club América in the United States. This year, the Catalan club could therefore appear before its supporters on the South American continent.
