Juventus will have to cope without its talented forward Kenan Yildiz in the coming days. The young Turkish international sustained a slight adductor strain during the weekend match against Parma, which forced him to ask coach Luciano Spalletti to substitute him in the first half.
According to Italian media, the injury is not expected to be serious, but Yildiz will likely miss Thursday’s Coppa Italia quarterfinal against Atalanta as well as the league clash with Lazio. After the match, it was confirmed that he still feels pain even while walking and the team does not want to risk aggravating his condition.
Yildiz has gone through a demanding part of the season, during which he was among Juventus’s most frequently used players. His absence could open an opportunity for new signing Jérémie Boga, who was introduced shortly before the victory over Parma.
The medical staff will monitor the young attacker’s condition daily. If recovery progresses as planned, he could at least be available on the bench for the weekend game against Lazio. The club hopes that a short rest will help Yildiz return to full fitness without a longer break.
For Juventus, having its creative midfielder back as soon as possible is crucial since the decisive phase of the season is approaching quickly and every point can play an important role in both the title race and qualification for European competitions.
