Brazilian club Bahia will acquire Argentine forward Alejo Veliz from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer. The transfer is expected to be completed in June, with both clubs reportedly agreeing on a fee of nine million euros, approximately 7.8 million pounds.
Veliz is currently on loan at his home club Rosario Central, where he has scored six goals in eighteen matches this season. Bahia had already shown interest in him during the January transfer window, but no agreement was reached at that time because the player wanted to finish the season in Argentina and move only after its conclusion.
Tottenham paid a similar amount for Veliz when he arrived from Rosario Central in 2023, with potential add-ons raising the total to thirteen million pounds depending on performance bonuses. After short loan spells at Sevilla and Espanyol, it became clear that he would not secure a place in Tottenham’s starting lineup.
Although the London club will not make a significant profit on the player, considering the amortization of their investment it is viewed as a reasonable deal. Veliz will have an opportunity to establish himself in the Brazilian league while Tottenham frees up space for new signings ahead of the upcoming season.
