On November 6th, 2022, a notable La Liga match took place between Villarreal CF and RCD Mallorca. It was a day to forget for the home side as they were bested by Mallorca in a game that proved to be both intense and heavily disciplined.
The match's first turning point came in the 32nd minute when Mallorca's Vedat Muriqi found the back of the net, giving his team the lead with a well-taken strike. It wasn't just the goals that caught the eye, as Iddrisu Baba of Mallorca went into the referee's book with a yellow card nine minutes later for a challenge that was deemed too rough.
As the second half commenced, Villarreal attempted to shift the momentum with Manu Trigueros coming on as a substitution right at the start of the half. However, this did little to tame the aggressive nature of the match as it saw a flurry of yellow cards from both sides. Giovanni González and Kang-in Lee of Mallorca were both cautioned along with Villarreal's Samuel Chukwueze, Alberto Moreno, and Alejandro Baena.
Villarreal made further attempts to change their fortune through substitutions, with Álex Baena entering the fray in the 64th minute. Despite the changes, tensions escalated and even goal scorer Vedat Muriqi was booked in the 71st minute.
Mallorca then reinforced their lead with a second goal from A. Ndiaye in the 75th minute, making it a tough journey for Villarreal to salvage points from the game. The visitors managed the match effectively, introducing fresh legs with Lee Kang-In and Dani Rodríguez being replaced in the 72nd minute, followed by Muriqi and Ruíz de Galarreta joining the bench in the 87th minute.
Villarreal, desperate to claw back into the game, made last-ditch efforts with substitutions of their own. Alberto Moreno and Étienne Capoue were brought on in the 90th minute, but it was too little too late. The final substitution for Mallorca saw Iddrisu Baba making way in the second minute of stoppage time, closing out the game for the visitors.
The match ended with Villarreal CF unable to counter RCD Mallorca's dominance, resulting in a frustrating loss for the Yellow Submarine and a triumphant win for Mallorca, who left the pitch with three well-earned points.

They are called El Submarino Amarillo, meaning the yellow submarine. It will remind you of the famous song Yellow Submarine by the Beatles, after which Villarreal got this nickname. Their main club colour is of course also yellow, with their home jerseys being almost completely yellow. Outdoors, on the other hand, they play in pink or alternative black and red jerseys. They play at the Estadio de la Cerámica, which has a capacity of 29,890 seats.
