Olympiacos Piraeus, or Olympiakos Syndesmos Filathlon Peiraios, is a team from the port city of Piraeus. It is the most successful club in Greek history. And as it happens, the successful ones also have a lot of fans, which is also true here. According to various polls, this is the most popular football club in Greece. Their home stadium, the Karaiskakis Stadium, has a capacity of over 32,000 spectators.
More about Olympiacos PiraeusThe Greek team Panionios F.C. was founded in 1890 (originally in Smyrna, after the war between Greece and Turkey it moved to Athens in the 1920s), so it is one of the oldest football teams not only in the Balkans, but in Europe in general. It plays in the Nea Smyrni stadium with a capacity of 11 700 spectators. It has triumphed twice in the national cup (1979 and 1998) and reached the quarter-finals in the last edition of the PVP (1998/1999). Not only football is played under the Panionios banner, but also basketball, volleyball and water polo.
