Galatasaray SK (Galatasaray Spor Kulübü) is an Istanbul club active in a variety of sports, with football probably being the most famous. It is one of the traditional participants of the Turkish top league and perhaps not surprisingly, its biggest rivals are other clubs from Istanbul, namely Fenerbahçe SK and Beşiktaş JK.

The club colours are dark blue and white, while the home jerseys have blue and white vertical stripes on the chest and the shorts are white. Outside, the blue colours are more prevalent, even on the shorts, but the blue and white stripes on the chest remain with minor variations. They are at home at the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Stadium offering a capacity of 14,234 seats. The club was founded in Istanbul in 1921. There are, of course, multiple Turkish teams in this large Turkish city with whom the club has local rivalries. The club was active in the top Turkish Süper Lig in 1959-64, 2007-08, 2009-11 and started its last season in 2012. Since then it has remained in the top league.
