La Viola, I Viola (purple) and I Gigliati (gold). The club colour is of course purple. They play their home games at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, which has a capacity of 43,147 seats. They have a strong rivalry with the leading Italian clubs, especially Juventus.

Milestones and club achievements

Florence Football Club was founded in 1926, by the merger of two older Florentine clubs, CS Firenze and PG Libertas. As a result, the club became a serious competitor to many other leading clubs from the north-west of Italy in the top league competition, which at the time was the Italian Football Championship. The club was founded by Lugi Rudolfi, a local nobleman and a member of the Fascist Party at the time.

Fiorentina has played Serie A for virtually its entire existence. However, it has "only" two titles from Italy's top competition, in 1956 and 1969. It does, however, have 6 Italian Cup triumphs, the most recent in 2000/01 and the Italian Super Cup triumph of 1996. Here he was also once more in the final, in 2001.

On the international scene, the club has success in the 1961 Cup Winners' Cup. Fiorentina was also in the final a year later, but then fell short to Atlético Madrid. It has also been in the final of the European Champions Cup (now Champions League), in the 1956/57 season, and in the Europa League final, then still the UEFA Cup, in 1990.

In 2006, a corruption scandal in Serie A was uncovered, in which the club was implicated and relegated to Serie B as punishment. The club has spent recent seasons back in Serie A, occupying the top positions in the table.
