Atalanta BC

The Italian name is Atalanta BC and the club nicknames are Gli Orobici, La Dea or I Nerazzurri (the black and whites). And as the latter nickname shows, the club colours are also black and blue, which appear both on the jerseys and in the emblem. On special occasions, the fans also unfurl a huge flag in the club colours, which covers the entire Curva Nord stand at their stadium. This is the Atleti Azzurri d'Italia stadium, which is known as Gewiss Stadium for sponsorship reasons. Its capacity is 21 300 people.

The fans have the biggest rivalry with the supporters of Brescia in their neighbourhood. There is also a long-standing rivalry with supporters of Verona, Genoa, Fiorentina, Roma, Lazio, Naples, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Torino. But lest it look like the fans of this club have only enemies, there are also long-standing friendships with Ternana, fans of Eintracht Frankfurt from the German Bundesliga and Austrian club Wacker Innsbruck.

Milestones and club achievements

The club was founded in 1907 and is based in Bergamo, Lombardy. It was founded by high school students, then as Società Bergamasca di Ginnastica e Sports Atletici Atalanta. In 1920, it was then merged with local gymnasts and fencers to form the current name, which is Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio throughout.

The club made its first appearance in the top competition in the 1928/29 season. The club then reached Serie A for the first time in the 1937/38 season. It has been quite successful there in recent years and its best finish so far is 4th position from the 2016/17 season.

In addition to its league appearances, the club has also participated in Italian cup competitions, celebrating success in the Italian Cup in the 1962/63 season. It has also reached the final three times, most recently in the 2018/19 season.
