Atlanta United FC, playing in the Eastern Conference of Major League Soccer, was founded in 2014. They use the modern Mercedes-Benz Stadium, with a potential capacity of about 73,000 spectators, for home games, where they also play American football. So it's no surprise that this stadium has set a league record for attendance.
Atlanta was able to establish itself in MLS very quickly. Already in 2018, they won the MLS Cup and therefore won the entire league, and the same year they were also the winners of the Eastern Conference regular season. They also won the Campeones Cup, which pits the winner of the American League against the winner of the Mexican League. A year later, they won the U.S. Open Cup
