The foundations of Birmingham City Football Club were laid back in 1875 when the team was still named as Small Heath Alliance, having played under its current name since 1943. It plays its home games at St Andrew's Stadium, which can hold around 30,000 fans. Perhaps unsurprisingly, their biggest rival is the more famous Aston Villa, who are based in the same city.
They have even experienced what it's like to play among England's elite in the Premier League. But solid successes have been racked up by Birmingham City FC players at the lower club level, even if many of them are of an older date. Of course, there's no shortage of titles from lower competitions. They won England's second highest competition in 1892/1893, 1920/1921, 19471948 and 1954/1955. The last time they finished second was in the 2008/2009 season.
