Players of this English football club are nicknamed The Railwaymen or The Alex. The club's colours are red and white, and these also appear on the home jerseys, with the jersey itself in red and the shorts in white. Outdoors, they play in a combination of yellow and black. At home they are at Gresty Road Stadium, which has a capacity of 10,153. The club was founded back in 1877, specifically in the town of Crewe, as the name of the club itself suggests. The second part of the name then takes its name from Queen Alexandra.
The club plays in the 4th top tier of professional English football called League Two. Of note is its success in the EFL Trophy, a knockout cup competition involving teams from League One and League Two, which the club won in 2012/13. It also reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup, in the 1887/88 season, and has reached the 3rd round of the League Cup on several occasions, most recently in the 2008/09 season.
