The nickname of this Turkish football club is Diyar (country). The club colours are red and green, which can be found on the home jerseys in the form of vertical stripes, while the shorts are green. They are at home at the Diyarbakır Stadium, which has a capacity of an equal 33,000 seats. The club was founded in 1968 in the Turkish city of the same name, Diyarbakır, on the banks of the Tigris River. At that time, two local teams merged, which were Diclespor and Yıldızspor, from which the current club colours were also taken.
The team played at most in the 1st Lig, the second highest domestic competition in Turkey. Their best finish was 2nd place in the 1976/77 season. Since 2010, after the re-launch, it was forced to start again in the amateurs, then as Yeni Diyarbakırspor. They currently playing in the 3rd Lig, the fourth Turkish league, having come up from the amateurs in 2013. In 2015, it adopted its current name, which is Diyarbekirspor A.Ş. In the 2018/19 season, it finished 10th in the league table.
