Elazigspor has historically flitted between the lower and upper echelons of Turkish football, having spent various seasons in both the Süper Lig, the top tier of Turkish football, and the lower divisions. While the team has never won major titles like the Süper Lig championship or the Turkish Cup, they have enjoyed periods of acclaim and competitive football, often serving as a stepping stone for players aiming to prove themselves in Turkish football.

The club holds a significant place in the hearts of local fans, known for their passion and loyalty. Elazigspor's supporters are an integral part of the team's identity, providing an electrifying atmosphere on match days and are known for their vocal support regardless of the club's standing.

Financial difficulties and administrative challenges have sometimes hampered the team's progress and stability, leading to varied performance over the years. Despite such setbacks, Elazigspor continues to be a focal point of sports and community pride in Elazığ, with aspirations of nurturing local talent, competing in higher divisions, and achieving greater success in Turkish football.
