The most famous football team from Moldova, FC Sheriff Tiraspol, was founded only in 1997. But even in a short time it has completely conquered the local scene. The Sheriff Stadium with a capacity of 14,000 spectators is used for their home matches.
They have dominated the Moldovan First League seventeen times, as well as winning nine cups and seven Super Cups. Alongside their domestic dominance, they are also trying to make a name for themselves on the international stage. In this respect, the Europa League group stage is the ultimate for them, where they have qualified four times so far. On top of that, FC Sheriff Tiraspol have also played the Champions League preliminary rounds.
