Latvian football team FK Ventspils has existed since 1997, when it was formed by the merger of two clubs FK Venta and FK Nafta. And already that year they started playing in the first league. They play their home games at Ventspils Olimpiskais Stadions with a capacity of about 3,200 spectators.
Over time, they have become one of Latvia's elite, having won their first title in 2006 and now have six titles to their credit. In addition to that, they have won seven Latvian cups by 2017. Thanks to their success on the domestic scene, they regularly play Europa League preliminary rounds and have even tried their hand at the Champions League.
