They are familiarly called Hearts or The Jam Tarts, HMFC or The Jambos. The club anthem is The Hearts Song, composed by a Scottish comedian. A modern version of this song is played before the start of every game at the home stadium. This is Tynecastle Park, which holds 20,099 spectators. It also sometimes hosts Scottish international matches. The main rivals are of course Edinburgh's other club, Hibernian. Hearth of Midlothian's club colours are brown and white.
The club was founded in 1874 and as we have already mentioned, it is one of two clubs in the Scottish capital Edinburgh. It is also the local oldest football club. If you're intrigued by its name, then know that it was founded by a group of friends from the Heart of Midlothian Quadrille Assembly dance club, which was named after the novel The Heart of Midlothian by Walter Scott.
Its greatest successes were achieved during the tenure of manager Tommy Walker, who was a former player, from the early fifties to the mid-sixties. Indeed, he won two league titles between 1954 and 1962. Overall, the club won the top league competition a total of four times in the following seasons:
As can be seen, the club's most recent successes in the top competition date back to the 1960s. The Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup were also won at that time. The Scottish Cups have a total of 8 in their existence, with their last win coming in 2012 when they won 5-1 against their rivals Hibernian. The club has won the Scottish League Cup a total of 4 times.
