The Andalusian team, which played in the Champions League in the 2012/2013 season - their journey in Europe's most prestigious cup competition ended in the quarter-finals. Málaga CF plays its home games at La Rosaleda Stadium, which has a capacity of 30,044 fans and is currently owned by Sheikh Abdullah Al Thani. The club first appeared on the football map in 1904, and fans will know it as Los Malaguistas or Los Blanquiazules, a reference to the club's colours of white and blue.
The club has spent most of its history in La Liga, but has also played in Spain's second highest competition for over thirty years. Among the famous names that have passed through the club, it is impossible not to include Fernando Hierro, Joaquín, Isco or Ignacio Camacho, and among the foreign stars Ruud van Nisterooij, Julio Baptista, Martín Demichelis or even Javier Saviola. The team was coached by Manuel Pellegrini or Bernd Schuster. Málaga's biggest rival is Granada CF, they play each other in the "derby of eastern Andalusia", the two irreconcilable rivals are separated by a distance of about 90 kilometres. Málaga has won the Segunda División four times (1952, 1967, 1988 and 1999).
