The nickname of Panama's national team is Red Tide, which is also a reference to the predominant colour of the Panamanian national jerseys. Home national team matches are played at the Estadio Rommel Fernández. The national team falls under the Federation of Panamanian Football and they represent their country at international events, which include, of course, the World Cup, but also the CONCACAF Gold Cup (North, Central American and Caribbean Football Championship).
They first played in the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 1963 and their best result here is second place in 2005 and 2013. If we look at the FIFA-organised World Cup, Panama's first ever historic participation was only really very recently, in 2018 in Russia. Unfortunately, however, the national team did not have another great success and did not advance from the group to the next battles back then. Thus, Panama is yet to experience its great football euphoria.
