Portsmouth FC, a football team from the south of the English county of Hampshire, was founded in the late 19th century in 1898. The Fratton Park stadium with a capacity of over 20,000 spectators serves as the venue for their home matches.
Portsmouth FC is one of those teams that can boast of triumphing in the first league. In their case, it happened twice in the 1948/1949 and 1949/1950 seasons. They also played among the English elite during the Premier League era, but without much success. And after 2010, relegation to the lower levels of football followed.
