RC Strasbourg Alsace has been playing football since 1906 and has become a successful team on the French scene, but has never been a top team. In fact, it is one of only six teams to have won all three major trophies. And those are winning the premier league and triumphing in the Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue. Strasbourg is also one of the six teams to have played over 2,000 games at the highest level in France.
For over a century, the team's home games have been played at the Stade de la Meinau, which currently boasts a capacity of over 26,000 spectator seats. Fans have been gathering at this stadium since 1914. But lately they have been rather dissatisfied. Even though Strasbourg has won a number of successes, the best times were in the relatively distant past. Conversely, in recent years, the team has had to deal with the lower French leagues and gradually climb back up to the elite Ligue 1.
