SBV Excelsior

The football team from Rotterdam SBV Excelsior plays its home matches at the Van Donge and De Roo stadium with a total capacity of four and a half thousand spectators. The nickname clearly documents the club's colours, Roodzwarten, meaning 'red and black'. The biggest rival is Sparta, another professional club from this port city, and we can certainly talk about the famous Feyenoord in this respect, although there is an official partnership (farm).

Excelsior is a three-time winner of the Dutch top flight (1974, 1979 and 2006), and at an early age Robin van Persie, later a player of Arsenal or Manchester United, but also Royston Drenthe, who wore the jersey of Real Madrid, made his first football steps here. To top it all off, we can mention the name Salomon Kalou, who is certainly remembered by Chelsea fans.
