Southampton FC

Their nickname is The Saints. The club colours are red and white, represented by vertical stripes on the jerseys. Since 2001 they have been at home at St. Mary's Stadium, which has a capacity of 32,505. It is the largest stadium in the South East of England.

They have a rivalry with Portsmouth FC, who are based in the city of the same name and are less than 30 miles away from Southampton. These matches are called the South Coast derby or also the Hampshire derby. There have been 70 matches between the clubs and Southampton have the upper hand. They have won 34 times, whereas Portsmouth have won 21 times.

Milestones and achievements of the club

The club was founded in 1885 and was then called St. Mary's YMA FC. The name indicates that it was founded by the faithful of St. Mary's Church. The club changed its name several more times, and settled in its final form in 1897.

Among the club's greatest achievements can be counted its participation in the cups. It won the FA Cup in 1975/76. In addition, it also reached the final in the 1899/00, 1901/02 and 2002/03 seasons. He also has the EFL Trophy from the 2009/10 season. Local minor achievements include 17 wins in the Hampshire Senior Cup.

As for its tenure in England's top club competition, it first entered the competition in the 1966/67 season and so far the club has not won a title there. The last time it reached its current form, the Premier League, was in the 2012/13 season and it is still there today.
