Sunderland AFC from Tyne and Wear has been playing football since 1879. But its founders originally chose the name Sunderland & District Teachers AFC, but the change happened very quickly, as the team got its current name two years later. It plays its home games at the Stadium of Light, which boasts a very decent capacity of 49,000 spectators.
In the distant past, the team has garnered great success, having become a total of six times the champions of the First League, but the last time this happened was in the 1935/1936 season. They have a lot of experience in the Premier League as well, but have not gained significant success in this modern era. And worse results meant that Sunderland AFC left the world's most elite football league after 2017.
