TSV 1860 Munich

TSV 1860 Munich, commonly known as "Die Löwen" (The Lions), is a professional football club based in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. Founded on May 17, 1860, the team has a rich history, with its football division established later in 1899. 1860 Munich enjoyed its greatest successes in the 1960s, winning the Bundesliga title in 1966, and has also won the DFB-Pokal (German Cup) on two occasions.

The club's colors are traditionally blue and white, reflecting their home kit, and they play their matches at the Grünwalder Stadion, which they share with several other Munich clubs. The stadium has a storied past and is known for its vibrant atmosphere on matchdays.

Over the years, 1860 Munich has experienced both highs and lows, fluctuating between the top tiers of German football. The club faced financial difficulties and relegation issues in the early 21st century, resulting in a drop to the lower leagues. Despite these challenges, it maintains a dedicated and passionate fan base, rivaled only by that of FC Bayern Munich, with whom they share a fierce intra-city rivalry.

1860 Munich is not just a football club; it's part of a larger sports club that includes departments for a variety of sports, such as gymnastics, boxing, and bowling. This multi-sport aspect highlights the club's roots in promoting a range of athletic pursuits as part of its community commitment.

The club’s ethos is grounded in tradition, local pride, and a fighting spirit—qualities that have kept supporters loyal through periods of both triumph and adversity. As they strive to climb back up the ranks of German football, TSV 1860 Munich continues to be an emblematic figure in Munich's sporting landscape.
