The Italian club, whose nicknames are Giallorossi (yellow and red) or Biancoscudati (white shields), actually has a white shield in its emblem, where the club colours, yellow and red, are also found. At home they play in a white jersey with black shorts and the jersey also contains yellow details. The away jersey is red with yellow details. They play their home games at the Stadio Comunale San Filippo-Franco Scoglio, which has a capacity of 37,895 seats. The Italian side was founded in 1900, and is based in Messina, Sicily.

Empoli FC
The Tuscany club has a tradition dating back to 1920 and has changed its name several times throughout its history. From the original Empoli FBC it gradually became ASF Empoli, Dopolavoro Empolese to today's Empoli FC. The Azzurri, as the team playing its home games at Stadio Carlo Castellani (capacity of more than 16,000 spectators) is also nicknamed, even played in the UEFA Cup in 2007. However, the vast majority of their time was spent in Italy's third highest competition. They have been more successful in recent seasons, but they are still more of a provincial club in the Italian scale, on the border between Serie A and Serie B.
