FC Sochaux-Montbéliard

The club, whose colours include blue and yellow and which has a stylised lion's head in its emblem, was founded in 1928, then still under the name FC Sochaux. Based in the town of Montbéliard near the Swiss border, the home stand at the Stade Auguste Bonal comfortably accommodates twenty thousand spectators. FCSM, as the team's name is sometimes reported in the media, was founded by Jean-Pierre Peugeot, a member of the famous car company's founding family.

Valenciennes FC

The traditional French football team was founded in 1913, still under the name USVA (Union Sportive de Valenciennes Anzin) and currently plays in Ligue 2, the second highest French competition. Since 2011, it has played at the Stade du Hainaut, which can accommodate twenty-five thousand spectators. Four decades in the first French league, but also a final appearance in the French National Cup in 1951, the last one in history so far - these are Valenciennes FC's greatest achievements.
