KV Kortrijk football team is one of Belgium's smaller clubs with a history dating back to 1901. Over the years, they have occasionally played in the first league, but have not achieved significant success there. Their most valuable trophies come from the second league, which they won shortly after their foundation in the 1905/1906 season and a second time more than a century later in the 2007/2008 season. Their home stadium is the Guldensporenstadion providing a capacity of over 9,000 seats for fans.
More about KV KortrijkThe club nicknames were De Mannekes, De Ratten and their club colours were then purple and white. These colours were also seen in the club crest and on home or away jerseys. At home, purple jerseys with white details were predominant, and away, white jerseys with purple details were predominant. The Olympisch Stadion, with a total capacity of 12 771 seats, was a shrine to this Belgian football team. The club originated in the important port city of Antwerp, where it was founded in 1920 after the merger of a pair of local teams, KFC Germinal Ekeren and K. Beerschot VAC.
