In an intense La Liga match-up on November 9th, 2022, RCD Mallorca hosted Atlético Madrid, resulting in a gripping contest marked by a flurry of cards and a critical goal. The match began relatively evenly, but the atmosphere quickly intensified as both teams fought for dominance.

Atlético Madrid's Nahuel Molina was the first to receive a yellow card at the 15-minute mark, signalling the start of a combative encounter. Mallorca responded almost immediately on the field, with V. Muriqi finding the back of the net in the 16th minute to give the home side an early lead.

Atletico Madrid thought they had leveled the score when Álvaro Morata put the ball past the goalkeeper, but his effort was disallowed in the 22nd minute. The intensity didn't wane there, as Iddrisu Baba of Mallorca received a yellow card just four minutes later.

Mallorca and Atlético each made strategic substitutions in the first half, with N. Molina being the first substituted player for Atlético in the 30th minute, while I. Baba was replaced for Mallorca after the halftime whistle.

The second half saw further disciplinary action when Rodrigo de Paul of Atlético and Kang-in Lee of Mallorca were booked within minutes of one another. Atlético sought to alter the course of the game with multiple substitutions around the hour mark and again in the 69th minute, bringing on fresh legs in an attempt to equalize.

Despite these efforts, Mallorca maintained control and discipline, making additional substitutions to reinforce their team as the match carried on. The game continued to be a feisty affair with several more yellow cards issued, including to Martin Valjent and Clément Grenier of Mallorca, and Stefan Savić of Atlético, highlighting the battle that unfolded on the pitch.

In a tense final few minutes, Mallorca managed to hold off Atlético's advances, securing a narrow yet significant 1-0 victory in front of their home supporters. The win was a testament to Mallorca's defensive resilience and ability to capitalize on their chances, handing a frustrating defeat to the visiting side from Madrid.
