San Jose Earthquakes, a California soccer team, was founded in 1994, but at the time it was still called the San Jose Clash. The renaming took place in 1999, and it was such a return of the Earthquakes to the city, as a club of that name had already played soccer in San Jose in the 1970s and 1980s.
More about San Jose EarthquakesSporting Kansas City was founded in 1995 and has been playing in the MLS since the following year. The club was originally called the Kansas City Wizards and the name was changed to City in November 2010. They play their home games at Children's Mercy Park, which has a capacity of approximately 18.5 thousand soccer fans.
