The team was founded in 1925 and is based in Heraklion on the Mediterranean island of Crete. Although many people know it as OFI Crete F. C., the official name is OFI Football Club or simply OFI. Fans say O Ómilos, which is simply "the club". OFI is based in the stadium bearing the name of Theodoros Vardinogiannis, which has a capacity of 9,088 spectators. The club colours are black and white.

AO Xanthi or Xanthi F.C. plays its home matches at the Xanthi FC Arena with a capacity of 7,244 spectators (on the occasion of its opening in 2005 we could see the legendary Pelé), first looked at the first league in 1989 and several times played in the Europa League or UEFA Cup, where, however, did not go past the first round - in 2002 it was stopped by Lazio, three years later by England's Middlesbrough.
