The traditional French football team was founded in 1913, still under the name USVA (Union Sportive de Valenciennes Anzin) and currently plays in Ligue 2, the second highest French competition. Since 2011, it has played at the Stade du Hainaut, which can accommodate twenty-five thousand spectators. Four decades in the first French league, but also a final appearance in the French National Cup in 1951, the last one in history so far - these are Valenciennes FC's greatest achievements.
More about Valenciennes FCThe club is nicknamed Les Girondins, Le club au scapulaire and Les marine et blanc. Their club colours are navy blue and white, which also refers to the latter nickname. They then play their home games at the Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux, which is also known as Matmut Atlantique, for sponsorship reasons. It is a modern stadium that only opened in 2015 and offers a capacity of 42,115 seats.
