San Jose Earthquakes, a California soccer team, was founded in 1994, but at the time it was still called the San Jose Clash. The renaming took place in 1999, and it was such a return of the Earthquakes to the city, as a club of that name had already played soccer in San Jose in the 1970s and 1980s.
More about San Jose EarthquakesThe American team FC Dallas has existed since 1995, when it was founded, but then under the name Dallas Burn. The change to the current name came a decade later.
