The club's nickname is I Neroverdi (the black and green), which makes it obvious what colour combination you will find on their jerseys and in their emblem. They play in a relatively new stadium built in 1995 and currently called Mapei Stadium - Città del Tricolore. It seats 21 584 fans.
More about US Sassuolo CalcioThe Tuscany club has a tradition dating back to 1920 and has changed its name several times throughout its history. From the original Empoli FBC it gradually became ASF Empoli, Dopolavoro Empolese to today's Empoli FC. The Azzurri, as the team playing its home games at Stadio Carlo Castellani (capacity of more than 16,000 spectators) is also nicknamed, even played in the UEFA Cup in 2007. However, the vast majority of their time was spent in Italy's third highest competition. They have been more successful in recent seasons, but they are still more of a provincial club in the Italian scale, on the border between Serie A and Serie B.
