Russian national football team is one of those national teams that have ever won a medal at a major event. It happened at the European Championships in 2008. Of course, as the Soviet Union they could also enjoy the title, that happened in 1960 and after that they were still second three times. In the Soviet era they were also the closest to a World Championship medal, as they came fourth in 1966. They also played the Confederations Cup once in 2017, but even the home environment didn't help them to advance out of the group.
More about RussiaEgypt's national football team probably can't be called anything other than the Pharaohs. They play their home games at Cairo International Stadium and represent their country at international events, which include not only the World Cup but also the African Cup of Nations. It is here that Egypt has celebrated the most success, winning a total of 7 times in 1957, 1959, 1986, 1998, 2006, 2008 and 2010. They then finished second in 1962 and relatively recently, in 2017. Then there were bronze medals in 1963, 1970 and 1974.
