The club, based in the Athens suburb of Nea Filadelfeia, is known to fans as Kitrinómavri ("yellow and black") or Dikéfalos Aetós ("two-headed eagles"). AEK Athens dates back to 1924 and plays at the Athens Olympic Stadium - capacity is 69,618 spectators. They are two-time winners of the 1997 and 1998 Cup Winners' Cup and are also the only Greek side to reach the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup, in the 1976/1977 season.
More about AEK AthensThe Akrites, or "Borderers", is the name of the team that was formed in the eastern Greek town of Xanthi in 1967. AO Xanthi or Xanthi F.C. plays its home matches at the Xanthi FC Arena with a capacity of 7,244 spectators (on the occasion of its opening in 2005 we could see the legendary Pelé), first looked at the first league in 1989 and several times played in the Europa League or UEFA Cup, where, however, did not go past the first round - in 2002 it was stopped by Lazio, three years later by England's Middlesbrough.
