The nicknames of this Italian football club include Aquilotti (eagles), Aquile (eagles) and also Bianconeri (black and white). The club colours are thus naturally black and white, with the home jersey being white with subtle black vertical stripes and black shorts. The away jersey has the colours reversed. They are at home at the Stadio Alberto Picco with a capacity of 10,336 spectators. The club was founded in 1906 by a Swiss businessman, in the town of La Spezia in Liguria, Italy.

The history of the Italian team Cosenza Calcio goes back to 1914, when it was founded as Cosenza Calcio 1914. However, this original team ended in 2005 and two years later the successor club Fortitudo Cosenza was founded and in 2011 the name was changed to Nuova Cosenza Calcio.
